Some changes on the ol’ site
Hi
Well as you may have noticed I turfed a lot of oooollllllddddd entries. Blog was starting to slow down. A lot. I even tried some of those cacheing plugins but they didn’t help. In fact they seemed to slow things down.
So I came to the conclusion that I should just delete posts older than 1 year old. I don’t need them anyways – things change so much that those would be irrelevant nowadays.
So I have this new plugin that will automagically delete posts older than 1 year. This should help keep the speed up.
Also, with recent changes to google reader, i can’t just share items and have the xml parsed by a plugin here. So I’ve had to make it a little more manual – using the “Press This” plugin I can achieve the same result, just takes a few seconds longer.
Thanks for checking me out and be sure to come back – i’ll be posting regular again now that i’ve solved my speed issues.

Netflix Just for Kids, now on Wii
My two sons love watching shows they find in the Just for Kids section on Netflix. As a busy parent, I love that they can find great stuff to watch without my help. Now, we have made it even easier for youngsters to use this great section by making it available on Wii.
When you launch the Netflix app on Wii you can choose the Just for Kids section, letting the kids browse without worrying if they will come across content not intended for young viewers. Visit the Just for Kids section in the Netflix Wii app and you’ll find a world of TV shows and movies suitable for children 12 and under. With unlimited instant viewing my sons can watch as much Phineas and Ferb or Johnny Test as they want, without being interrupted by commercials.

Scroll through the recipe ideas, share recipes with your Facebook friends and click the tabs for filtered results such as “quick recipes” for less than 30 minutes cook time.
Dietary restrictions? You can filter by ingredients to spend less time searching and more time cooking. Simply click on ‘Filter by Ingredient’ and select the ingredient you want to include or avoid.

Yahoo! Recipe Search Tab
If you want to narrow down the results of recipes, sort by preparation time, star rating, diet, meal type, occasion, or source, click on the ‘Recipes’ tab on the search results page for the new Recipes Search.
Sometimes you have 30 minutes to whip up a meal, other times you are looking for a great turkey recipe, or ideas on what to do with the leftovers. Or perhaps you may want side dish ideas for a school potluck, or holiday dessert ideas to impress your in-laws. With the new recipe search tab, you can easily find all of this and more.
Click the new Recipes search tab for a page full of ideas, with a left tab full of new filters for ingredients you want and don’t want, total cooking time, rating, diet (including choices such as low calorie, low carb, low sodium and low cholesterol), meal type, occasion and source.

Find key information, such as prices, specifications, and warranty information.
Similar to recipe search, you can also share products with your friends. Login to your Facebook account, and instantly ask your friends what they think!

You Can Now Send Facebook Wall Posts Back in Time
The Facebook wall is our social document of record. Etched in rock like an Attic tablet, the things said on a wall provide a poignant look back at who said what, and when. Not anymore. Timeline lets you rewrite history.
I noticed today while trying to delete some banal crap off my wall that I was able to, via the new “Edit or Remove” pencil icon, change the date of someone else’s wall posting. So I did. I literally moved what she said back in time, to a month ago (albeit with a tiny clock icon indicating as much). Then I pushed further—I moved another friend’s wall post back to 2006, years before I would even meet her. Luckily, the space-time continuum seems to have maintained its integrity, but what the hell?
What a dishonest, bizarre feature! It must either be a bug or terrible design, because I can’t imagine any reason why it’d be in Facebook’s interests as a social network to allow us to completely revise our social history. Timeline is about life events, such as “overcoming illnesses” and “new relationships,” which have to be added manually—so the ability to edit those make sense. But being able to fling correspondance through past and future? What sort of science fiction Timeline is this?
